Critics Consensus

Bearing only the slightest resemblance to Isaac Asimov's short stories, I, Robot is still a summer blockbuster that manages to make viewers think -- if only a little.

I, Robot | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Sukhdev Sandhu Daily Telegraph (UK) Leaving aside the sub-Matrix hokum about Spooner's sweet-potato-loving grandmom, the movie humiliates itself - and embarrasses us - by the amount of time it spends plugging a glamorous car... Apr 1, 2019 Full Review I, Robot | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Richard Corliss TIME Magazine In the end, I, Robot is just an assembly-line product of a not very advanced model. Apr 1, 2019 Full Review I, Robot | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald He excels in creating alternative worlds and the one here sustains the film, with a pristine beauty that's attractive and slightly sinister. Apr 1, 2019 Full Review I, Robot | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Though the material possessed the potential for landmark genre filmmaking, the result feels like two hours of product placement, so-so-special FX, too much comic relief, and non-acting from a star sleeping through his performance. Gorptholemew T 🍀 4.9/10Well robots can now paint canvases and write symphonies this movie is no longer valid put it in the trash just mr smith’s career 🙁. I don’t wanna get into controversies, because I legit have no idea what’s going on. news is so weird these days. but also Will Smith isn’t looking too good right now which is really sad because I’ve always been a pretty big fan of him. So now I wanna watch and rewatch some of will smiths movies before I inevitably see him as an asshole or something (not that it would affect the score of any of these movies) but here we have I robot one of the 3 movies from the i trilogy ( I robot 2004, I am legend 2007, and I Frankenstein 2014, the epic conclusion). I literally always see this film at like thrift stores on dvd. My uncle talks about it all the time. And now there is a bunch of memes about it. and I’ve always wondered what it was really about. And I’ll say I’m a bit disappointed with it. I think there’s a lot of things that do really work well in this movie. some of the ideas and imagery work really well. But the action is a bit stiff and logic is kind of muddled. which I can get past, But this just wasn’t it for me. still I’m glad I finally watched. We enjoyed it immensely Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/30/24 Full Review Murat B I'm so surprised that top critics are way far to think the future as the Asimov. Looking from 2024 the movie is deserves 70-80 percent min. I watched it several times with different students group and all loved it. I think some people will change their minds and give it a better score hope they do. 1 of my favorites movies always.
